do you ever feel like just laying down in the battle? do you ever feel like just rolling over and dieing because you're tired of fighting?

"You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you."

as i read these verses the other afternoon i was once again reminded that sometimes i try WAY to hard! God's saying... hey! hold up! stand still and watch what I can do! sounds so easy doesn't it?!?! the truth is... IT IS! we as humans just make life so difficult and in the end IT IS so hard.

the last month i thought i knew. doors that where so open and inviting and screaming my name telling me to come walk through. but then (it seemed) at the most inopportune time the door goes slamming shut in my face.

i struggle with thoughts such as why did God open a door just to close it? why does it seem that everything i've ever dreamed of isn't what God wants for me? what He wants for me is something that's going to be totally opposite of what i ever dreamed of?

even though i struggle with such thoughts, deep down i know He's the author of my story and in His own time it will all be so clear and BEAUTIFUL!

a very wise friend told me something that was so appropriate, couldn't have come at a better time, and something i won't soon forget... i wanted to share it just in case it could help you...

city girl detection

For those of you who do not know, our family lives on an acre and a half about ten miles out of a small town called Washington, Iowa. Our "farm" consists of, a small flock of chickens and ducks, use to have three goats and a lamb, (long story don't ask) and finally a dog and three cats. Not even a farm compared to most of our farmer friends. But our city friends come over and go crazy about our "farm" and never want to leave blah, blah, blah! :)

So, Grace has come up with a city girl detection method that seems to help us spot them VERY quickly. The conversation goes something like this.

Grace comes running into the house yelling loud enough for the whole house to hear...

Grace: beth beth! the giraffe is out! it jumped the fence again!

City girl: you have a giraffe? wow! cool! can i see it?

Grace: yeah. you can help us get it back in. it always gets out.

City girl (in a dumb founded tone): WOW!

Grace (and all th other lids start laughing): just kidding! but we do have a panda!

City girl: awe! can i pet it?

They don't get it!

Wishing...

... for days like these!

Hey all! just wanted to give you a little update on my life.

Work is going great. To those of you who don't know, i work at a small newspaper in Washington. I work in the accounting department doing the billing end of things. I have my own little desk and office space with a computer. Which makes me feel very important. ;) LOL! *(and yes i give MEMOS) We just finished month end, so now life goes back to normal around the office. We can have a little breathing room.

My cousin Anna, is staying with us til Monday so that's fun having her around. We always have crazy wonderful times.

On Friday night Nicole, Anna, and I are going over to watch 'Fireproof' with Kyle and his sister Krista. Our family watched it the other night and it's GREAT! I totally recommend it! But since Kyles cooped up were going to have a little party with him. Keep praying for continued healing for him.

Saturday i think I'll take a walk and soak up some of that sun and warm weather we're suppose to get!

Brief Over ViewI

I'm Back with pictures!  Yay me!  So we didn't end up going to the Amanas.  This weekend here in Iowa has been a cold one and we thought it might be more enjoyable to go when it warms up to 20 degrees instead of -20.  smile.

Ethan playing 'Guesstures' with our family last fall.  Ethan's going into the Marines and we went to his going away party last weekend.  "Congratulations Ethan!  Thanks for your service to our country!"

This is rare.  Catching a Chmelar and Mendenhall without a smile.

Another highlight of the weekend was the boys basket ball game.  It didn't turn out so hot but we're not going to talk about that.  LOL

On Friday night we got together with about 25 friends and played music and a loud game of spoons.  Very intense by the way!  Here are a few faces from the game.

Update

Hello again from the cold, cold, state of Iowa! I know I've made some promises that I haven't kept so, I'm not going to make any more.

Since i left my flash drive in the pocket of my old jacket, and that jacket happens to be in the car of my friends, it makes it quite difficult to post pictures. ;)

This week we have been privileged to have our aunt staying with us for a week. Yesterday while I was at work, she put on a spa day with the little girls and mom. Complete with manicures, facials, and hair do's. They made sure that Nicole, Chris, Tim, and I, all got facials when we got home from work and the gym. It was fun!

This Saturday will be a full one. In the morning us girls are taking a foreign exchange student from Germany to the Amana's (a little town about an hour from us that has German origins.) for lunch. She's going to teach us all the good German food to eat.

In the afternoon we are going to a send off party for a good friend of ours who is going to boot camp on the 20th. He's joining the Marines.

And finally in the evening we are having a whole group of musicians to our house for a time of jamming, food, and fun!

So that's a look at what I've been doing and will be doing. Keep it right here for pictures! Ok... so you don't believe me. I don't even believe myself. This blog is slowly moving towards my worst blog list. :) LOL

STAY WARM! Tonight the wind chill in Keota Iowa is going to be 40 below ZERO! I suggest hunkering down and taking my Dad's advice...

I really have no excuse for neglecting my blog and all of you for so long. I could dream some up but... I won't. Since you all want to know what's been happening with the sensational seven I'll give you a brief over view and hopefully do a better job at keeping you informed. (haha)

Oh man! I just looked at the clock and realized that i need to get back to work. Oh man! I just realized that most of you don't even know that I have a job. OH MAN!

OK so i guess y'all are going to have to keep wondering til i can tell you. I really gotta run folks and my deepest apologies are with you! I'll be back I promise. But until then gaze at the picture of the sensational seven.
